European Cleantech Networks Urge Action on Revised State Aid Rules to Support Clean Industrial Deal

Cleantech for Europe, together with Cleantech for Baltics and other regional networks, has addressed the European Commission regarding the revised state aid rules related to the Clean Industrial Deal.

What improvements are proposed now:

  • Faster approval of state aid schemes
  • Support for loans and guarantees as de-risking instruments
  • Financing for long-duration energy storage solutions

Where more ambition is needed:

  • Aid amounts are too low to drive significant manufacturing growth in the EU
  • Long and unpredictable project procedures – not adapted to startup realities
  • Lack of a clear mechanism for production-based support
  • Need to include sustainability and European supply chain criteria

To stay globally competitive, the EU must boldly invest in the future of clean industry. We support the call for a fundamental reform of the state aid framework.
